National collaborations

Dr Colette Griffin is a member of The South West London and Surrey Trauma Network Board.

She is a member of the Independent Overview Committee for The Brain Study. This is a study looking at long term cognitive impairment in rugby players. The study is being run by The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, in collaboration with The Rugby Football Union and The Institute of Sports and Exercise Health, London.  Dr Griffin is also on the oversight committee for the Heading study (Health and ageing data in the game of football).

She is a founder member of The Association of British Neurologist traumatic brain injury advisory group.

Dr Colette Griffin regularly reviews traumatic brain injury papers for publication for Practical Neurology, and traumatic brain injury presentations for The Association of British Neurologists and the European Academy of Neurology meetings.

She is regularly an invited speaker both nationally and internationally, most recently at the joint SBNS/ABN meeting in London.

She was involved in the recent development of of a national exemplar TBI pathway for NHS England.

Dr Colette Griffin is working in collaboration with the Military Neurotrauma Working Group. She has been invited to join the Priority Setting Partnership for TBI. This will influence future research and collaborative working between the military and the NHS.

She was involved in the recent development of the new TBI core curriculum for Neurology trainees.

She is currently recruiting patients into the NIHR multi-centre study of the treatment of depression post traumatic brain injury.

Dr Colette Griffin is also currently recruiting patients into the BIO AX TBI multi-centre longitudinal study.

Dr Colette Griffin has recently been involved in patient recruitment for the following collaborative trials:

  • ReMemBrIn (Rehabilitation of Memory following Traumatic Brain Injury-a Phase III Randomised Controlled Trial. (Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit).
  • Effect of minocycline on chronic neuroinflammation following traumatic brain injury. (Imperial College, London).
  • The control of brain networks after traumatic brain injury: a neuroimaging and neuropsychological study of dopamine and cognition. (Imperial College, London).
  • Investigating chronic neuroinflammation following traumatic brain injury and its relationship to brain structure and function. (Imperial College, London).
  • TRACK-COG-TBI: Computer based TRACKing and Training COGnition after traumatic brain injury. (Imperial College, London).

Dr Colette Griffin is frequently asked to review patients for a second opinion. She is happy tor review international patients, and currently has an international patient group who travel to see her from Singapore, Europe, Switzerland and Malaysia.
